First Friday Formation

This week, Kevin Iheanyichukwu, one of our 8th grade students, shares some thoughts on Mass and the Bible.
The Catholic Mass and the Bible are connected in some important ways:

  1. God’s Message: The Bible is how God talks to people through the stories and teachings it contains. The Mass is also a way God communicates with us, especially through the Bible readings and prayers.
  2. Revelation and Tradition: The Bible shows us what God has revealed to us, and the Mass helps us celebrate and remember those revelations. The Mass follows traditions that have been passed down through the Church and are based on what the Bible teaches.
  3. Structure: The Mass has a specific order and includes readings from the Bible. This structure helps us understand and reflect on the Bible’s messages, similar to how the Bible is organized to guide our faith.
  4. Sacrament: The Bible talks about Jesus and His teachings. During the Mass, we celebrate the Eucharist, which is a special way of remembering and experiencing Jesus’s sacrifice and presence, just like the Bible describes.
  5. Community: Both the Bible and the Mass are about coming together as a community. The Bible is read and discussed in groups, and the Mass is a communal event where people gather to worship and learn.
  6. Learning About Faith: The Mass helps teach us about our faith through its prayers and actions, similar to how the Bible teaches us about God and how to live a good life.

So, the Mass is like the Bible because it uses the Bible's teachings and helps us experience them in a special way.

Positivity Project

Every week you will find the link to the Positivity Project's website for families here:   P2 for Families (password: P2) . We invite you to explore the character strength of the week with your child by watching a short video, reading a quote and discussing the three questions online.

Next week our character strength of the week is other people matter – being present and giving others my attention.

More information about the Positivity Project is included in the attached document.
