Technology

Goal: Continue integrating technology within all subject areas.

         Strategy: Teachers will integrate technology in their daily lessons.

         Evidence: Students emailing assignments and attachments, Accelerated Reading, Google Classroom, BrainPOP/Jr., Prodigy

         Timeline: Continuous


Goal: Increase access to progressive technology so that every student has access. 

       Strategy: Teachers make technology devices available for every student (Kindle, Tablet, desktop, Chromebooks).

      Evidence: 1:1 ratio of devices to students within a given class period, Google Classroom, Google Drive, assignments submitted electronically, use of BrainPOP/Jr., scheduled use of computer lab 

     Timeline: Completed by end of 2022


Goal: Provide a learning community for professional staff development.

      Strategy: Each teaching professional shall be given the opportunity to obtain a minimum of 10 contact hours of professional development per school year; some Title II monies available for professional development, staff led technology/Google training (‘18/’19), MAP Growth training(‘19/’20)

School Improvement Plan

This plan is a fluid document that is updated yearly. 

Spiritual/Moral

Goal: Extend current character traits within the academic curriculum across grade levels.

      Strategy: Teachers create lesson plans including character traits across the curriculum.

      Evidence: Positivity Project, Hall Prayer, mini lessons, weekly newsletter, bulletin board, National Jr. Beta Club

Goal: Ensure that every St. Ann student participates in one service project every quarter.

      Strategy: Student participation in the Second Harvest’s “Students Against Hunger” food drive, diaper drive and sock drive for Catholic Charities, collection for Fisher House, Catholic Relief Services’ Operation Rice Bowl, Neighborhood Youth Center volunteering for middle school, marker and crayon collection for recycling, Catholic Schools Week collection drive for soldiers, neighborhood clean-up, St. Joseph of the Pines Mass choir singing

Goal: Maintain continued holistic exposure to the Catholic sacraments and traditions.

      Strategy: Student participation in: All Saints Day, baptisms during school Masses, visits by the bishop, Rosary Club, sacrament of Reconciliation,  Holy Communion, rosary once a month before Mass, communication with seminarians of the Diocese of Raleigh, student led Mass every Thursday, Chrism Mass for 6th grade, graduation Mass, Living Stations of the Cross, student Mass choir, St. Cecilia Sing, trips to Greek Orthodox Church, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Temple Beth-El synagogue, altar server training, the Direction of Intention prayer, Las Posadas

Goal: Continue to connect the school and parish more closely.

Goal: Increase and formalize devotion to saints

      Strategy: Teachers focus on a different saint per month; students write monthly saint reports, discuss an important saint in daily announcements

Academic

Goal: Grades 3-8 testing at or above grade level. 

      Strategy: Teachers acquire standardized test results and formal/informal classroom assessments to guide their lesson plans.

      Evidence: Iowa Assessment, STAR tests, Accelerated Reading quizzes, MAP Growth testing

Goal: Identify appropriate means of assessment in addition to Iowa Assessment.

      Strategy: Research and acquire new resources for student testing.

Goal: Grades PreK-2 provide continuous progression/screening of assessment.

      Strategy: Evaluate test summaries/results; create lesson plans based on students’ needs

      Evidence: ESGI for PreK-1st grade, CogAT for 2nd grade, MAP Growth for 2nd grade

Goal: Benchmark testing provided for all grades in the subjects of reading and math. 

      Strategy: Research and acquire an appropriate benchmark test.

      Evidence: Benchmark testing of students throughout the school year using ESGI and MAP Growth

Physical

Goal: Measure students’ physical fitness compared to national physical standards

      Strategy: PE teacher explains, demonstrates, and evaluates activities

      Evidence: Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA), curriculum, Girl’s Fit Club, fitness/eating logs, use of pedometers to track physical activity

      Timeline: Continuous


Goal: Increase extracurricular opportunities to enhance physical and social development.

      Strategy: Teachers and volunteers encourage students to be physically and socially active

      Evidence: Boys and girls church league basketball, Bricks for Kidz, monthly skate nights, Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart, sports teams with St. Patrick’s (soccer for boys and girls, volleyball for girls, basketball for boys and girls)
